SkiMeisters ski at Winter Park Resort, Colorado on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday most weeks during ski season. The club’s guided skiing program begins after New Year’s Day and continues for 15 weeks through mid-April. Club members also get together for informal skiing without guides starting in early December up until the Christmas holidays. A list of the specific dates is available to members in the fall edition of the ‘Flurries,’ our on-line newsletter, and in weekly emails distributed to members who sign up for the downhill program’s email distribution list.
In order to participate in downhill skiing, all SkiMeisters must wear ski-helmets, be able to ski blue level trails, and ski under control.
Special Events
SkiMeisters have special ski programs each season, such as lessons from Winter Park Resort instructors and multi-day trips to other ski resorts. Information on these will be published in the Flurries found on the Member-only website.
After-Ski Parties
SkiMeisters meet after skiing on Wednesdays for an after-ski party. In the past these have have been held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Winter Park base area, a local establishment in Winter Park or Fraser, or at the Winter Park Town Hall for a Pot-luck dinner. Beginning in 2025, there may also be informal after-ski meet ups at an establishment at the base of the mountain. A calendar of these events will be published in the Flurries and on the member-only website and will be distributed in weekly emails to members who sign up for the downhill program’s email distribution list.
Meeting Times & Places
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
Meet at 9:15 a.m. at the lower level entrance to Snoasis. Look for a guide displaying the number of the level you plan to ski. Groups will leave the Snoasis area at 9:30 a.m. Members meet for lunch at 12:30 p.m. at Snoasis. Generally, a place is reserved for the club on the upper level. Skiing resumes at 1:30 p.m. for those who wish to participate and continues until 2:30 p.m. at the latest.
Sunday
Meet at 8:15 a.m. at the Winter Park base in the front of the Arrow lift. The group will leave at 8:30 a.m. Because the number of members skiing on Sunday is usually small, all skiers may ski together or, if there are enough volunteer guides, may break up into ski level groups. Members meet for lunch from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 at Snoasis, again sitting together on the upper level. After lunch, members who wish to do so resume skiing until approximately 2:00 p.m.
Guides
SkiMeisters divide into small groups according to their skiing ability and interests. Each group skis with a member guide who assists the group in choosing appropriate trails, manages the timing of the day, particularly for lunch and special events, and skis behind the group to assist in the event of a fall or accident. To ensure a quality experience, guides attend an annual orientation. They are instructed in safety procedures, time management, familiar with the ski terrain lifts, and trails appropriate for each ski level.
Note: Guides do NOT teach skiing to members or guests
